Inspiration

Caroline Lucretia Herschel was a German astronomer who discovered several comets. She was the first woman to receive a salary as a scientist and the first woman in England to hold a government position.

Build a Solar System Plate

Materials

  • Sun: Slice from a boiled egg

  • Mercury: Blueberry

  • Venus: Sliced raspberry for Venus

  • Earth: Dry apricot

  • Mars: Sliced strawberry

  • Jupiter: Slice of apple

  • Saturn: Slice of kiwi

  • Uranus: Slice of plum

  • Neptune: Slice of banana

  • 1 tbsp cream cheese

Directions

  1. Start with sun right at the center

  2. Fill up the cream cheese in an icing bag and pipe out 8 concentric circles around the sun for the 8 orbits

  3. Place the fruit slices to represent the planets
