Halloween Crystals

Materials

• Water

• Salt

• Pipe cleaners

• Mason Jar

Directions

1. Boil enough water to fill your mason jar

2. While the pan is on the stove, add enough salt so that crystals form on the surface of the water. It will look like a sheet of thin ice.

3. Remove the water from the heat and let the mixture cool.

4. While the water is cooling, form your pipe cleaner shape. Twist ends together to hold shape.

5. Attach the shape to a pencil with another pipe cleaner.

6. Pour the salt water into the jars.

7. Lower your pumpkin into the salt water solution.

8. Wait a few hours for salt crystals to form. Leave the crystals in the solution for longer to make bigger crystals. After two hours, small salt crystals will start to form. You can leave the pipe cleaners in the saltwater solution for 2-3 days.
